Technology may be attached to a defendant's person.  The supervising agency will monitor the defendant's progress regarding the conditions of probation or deferred sentence which were imposed by the judge via day reporting, home detention ankle bracelet, home detention & alcohol monitor ankle bracelet, wrist watch alcohol & drug monitor, GPS ankle bracelet or some combination.  These forms of monitoring are known as jail alternatives.  Although technological device attachment to one's person is not a welcomed event, most clients have considered the below alternatives preferable to incarceration in the jailhouse.

        During this period the defendant:
                1.  may not be intoxicated
                2.  may not have consumed alcohol
                3.  may not have alcohol on his / her breath
                4.  may not have consumed, injected or ingested non-prescription drugs
Breath analysis testing for alcohol and urine samples for drug testing may also be required.  Be clean when you contact the day reporting or jail alternative representative.  If the defendant drinks or uses illicit drugs or otherwise violates the terms of jail alternative, anticipate revocation of probation or revocation of deferred sentence and straight incarceration being ordered in the jailhouse.

COMCOR FEES & COSTS 10/18/2011

DAY REPORTING $6 per day with 10 day prepayment $60, then full week cost at number days reporting x $6 payable at the beginning each of week.  Day reporting contact may first be physical visits, then later - phone calls. This will be similar to supervised probation, but with regular close & personal contacts.  No device is attached to the defendant's person with day reporting.

HOME DETENTION ANKLE BRACELET $12 per day with 10 day prepayment $120, then $84 payable at the beginning each of week

ALCOHOL MONITOR LEG BRACELET & HOME DETENTION $12 per day with 10 day prepayment $120, then $84 payable at the beginning each of week

ALCOHOL MONITOR & DRUG MONITOR WRIST WATCH $39 deposit + $7 per day with 10 day prepayment $109, then $49 payable at the beginning each of week.  Deposit is refunded at conclusion if unit returned in proper working order.  If combined with home detention or GPS, cost is reduced to $3 per day.

GPS HOME DETENTION ANKLE BRACELET $15 per day with 10 day prepayment $150, then $105 payable at the beginning each of week.  If alcohol or drug monitoring is required, wrist watch is added.

Home Detention * Alcohol Monitor * Drug Monitor

if the term is 45 days or less COMCOR can physically download data 2x per week at their facility
if the term is more than 45 days, hard line home phone is required

If defendant does not have a hard line work phone or worksite changes, such as construction, GPS is required with advance notice as to worksite locations for upcoming week.  With GPS, a phone line is not required.  COMCOR can determine the defendant's location 24/7 realtime without knowledge of the defendant beyond the fact the tracking device was initially placed.

Privacy

With home detention ankle bracelet, COMCOR will periodically phone defendant's employment to verify presence during work hours, however will not identify themselves to third persons who may pick up the phone at the worksite.  Ankle bracelet can be concealed with the legs of long pants.  GPS device is an actual wristwatch - not knowledgeable to third persons.  There is no overt advertising to friends, co-workers or third persons that a defendant is involved in a jail alternative program.

To be permitted to drive from any detention facility for work release or day reporting, you will likely be required to provide the following:

  1. A valid driver's license.

  2. Current registration for the vehicle.

  3. Motor vehicle insurance evidence currently in effect.

  4. A copy of your driving record no older than 2-3 days in advance of your reporting date. Driving abstracts may be obtained from DMV Offices.
